GUIDELINES BEFORE APPLYING

If you cannot meet these guidelines please do not apply

1.) Potential Adopters MUST Reside within Chicago land and surrounding suburban areas. Homevisits are REQUIRED in order for us to approve an adoption. (Based on circumstances we may make an exception to this rule but you have to consider one of our volunteers needs to complete a homevisit so if you are very far away we CANNOT guarantee that we can make that exception.)

2.) Demonstrate the ability and commitment to provide proper care, exercise and training for the ENTIRE LIFE of the dog.

3.) Applicants such as apartment or condo dwellers must be able to provide written proof provided by the association / landlord and provide contact info of landlord. A fenced yard is REQUIRED for most all of our dogs but again it is based on each individual dog. If there is a particular dog you are interested in please email us before applying to adopt.

4.) Agree to keep the dog safely on leash at all times when not in a fenced-in area. An adopter wanting to chain a dog up will not be allowed to adopt, NO EXCEPTIONS.

5.)All current pets must be spayed/neutered. They must also be current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. If this requirement is not met our board of directors will take this into consideration depending on the circumstances.

6.) Applicant is 23 years of age or older. If you are not, we require another adult in the household to meet this requirement.

7.) Abide by the terms and conditions in our adoption contract

A COMPLETED ADOPTION APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE WE WILL SETUP A MEETING WITH ANY ANIMAL. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL INFORMATION IS COMPLETE ON YOUR APPLICATION, IF IT IS NOT COMPLETE, WE WILL NOT PROCESS IT.

ONCE RECEIVED, WE WILL REVIEW YOUR APPLICATION, HAVE A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH YOU AND DECIDE IF THIS ANIMAL IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR HOUSEHOLD. OUR GOAL IS TO PUT THEM IN THEIR FOREVER HOME, THEREFORE MOST ANIMAL ADOPTIONS CAN TAKE 3-14 DAYS (SOMETIMES LONGER) BEFORE ADOPTION IS COMPLETE.

All adoptions require a home visit and no animal will be adopted out until this can be arranged. Adoption donation must be paid in full by cash, credit card or PayPal before animal will be placed.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS FOR ADOPTION FEES.
